I met Lidia Scher on a Speed Networking Over the Phone event, and she and I immediately clicked. She is so positive and enthusiastic about what she does. I really had to ask her to be a guest on our radio show so that she could share pearls of wisdom with the rest of us.

Fortunately, I did get the opportunity to interview award-winning interior designer, teacher, author, speaker, artist and Feng Shui master, Lidia Scher who owns a 23 year old successful practice specializing in dental interior design in Arlington Height, MA. Lidia spoke about networking as the strongest leg of a well-thought out marketing plan, and of social media as being also a part of that networking and promotion plan, but she cautioned us to set clear guidelines for its use from having a clear purpose to controlling the time you spend on them.

Her closing remarks were the eye opener of the interview. As an experienced interior designer, she stated that when we select a space to live or work, either owned or rented, that space reflects the quality of our thinking, our beliefs and the condition of our money, relationships, career, creativity and fame.

She further explained that most of the time we select the places we live or work, seemingly unconsciously. Yet, the particular space mirrors who we are at that time. Thus, she said, there are no diets, lifestyle changes or growth that can be sustained without a supportive environment. Lidia concluded that when our space is designed understanding that everything is energy manifested as form, including us and the objects in our environment, and that everything affects everything else good or bad and that we can decide how our environment affects us, well then, that is a winning combination!

Lidia Scher is the principal of L.A.S. ASSOCIATES, PO BOX 750001, Arlington, MA 781-643-2750. www.lasassociates.net & www.LidiaScherArt.com

The Lotus Code is a 2,500 philosophy that lays out a blueprint to achieve success. It has six parts that build upon and support each other.

Here is an overview:

  1. Thoughts: Thoughts are things – well at least they can become things. Everything begins with a thought. Books that have really helped me get my head right and attract the people and situations that I want are The Secret, The Power of Positive Thinking, and Think and Grow Rich.
  2. Words: Words are powerful. They can make or break people. This is the power of prayer and affirmations. T. Harv Eker’s, The Secrets of the Millionaire Mind talks about making declarations and Anthony Robbins’ books like Awaken the Giant Within are heavily influenced by neurolinguistic programming.
  3. Actions: Nike’s timeless slogan is “Just do it,” and that is what is necessary. You have to do something. Books like The Science of Getting Rich tell us step by step what to do to achieve desired results. Dale Carnegie’s How to Win Friends and Influence People is also an excellent read on things to do to achieve success.
  4. Habits: Stephen Covey reminds us in his book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, the right actions to make habitual so that we can achieve success in uncommon hours.
  5. Persistence: Persistence, particularly in the face of adversity, is what helps of earn our desired outcome. The universe must be paid in full, and this debt must be paid in advance. Feeling pain and fear and doing it anyway is what turns us mere mortals into the champions that we aspire to become.
  6. Result: Everything that we do or don’t do will lead us to this outcome.

Remember, the universe is neutral so this roadmap can lead us to our goal or to a very sad and desperate state of affairs. As it has been said, “We become what we think about.” Truer words have not been spoken. I hope that you found this information helpful.

Kind regards,

Financial aid for a comeback kid

We are pleased to announce that Grassroots Business Network, LLC has awarded a $500 financial aid grant to a deserving student at Grace Dodge Career & Technical High School in the Bronx.

The student is named Stephanie Echevarria and she was awarded a grant for being a Comeback Kid.

Stephanie wasn’t always the best student and use to actually get a good amount of trouble. She was cutting school a lot and hanging out with the wrong crowd. Fortunately, she has done a total 180 and shown steady improvement. She graduated with a nice grade point average and will be attending college this fall.

Academically gifted students and athletes always have a good shot at getting scholarships, but not comeback kids. Grassroots Business Network will always work hard to assist those students who have pulled themselves up by their bootstraps and are working hard to walk the straight and narrow. Some urban youth face enormous adversity and temptations when they leave their old lives behind. We have to support these at risk students.

Grace Dodge is my high school alma mater and they can count on my organization’s support to give a financial aid grant a comeback kid each year.

Grassroots Business Network’s slogan is “We help put the pieces together.” A key piece to solving the puzzles of tomorrow is urban youth. Helping comeback kids is a nice thing to do and the smart thing to do for our city and country.
